Just found out my carpet knife was dulling way faster because of the adhesive residue on my blade sharpener

I was getting ragged cuts on a job in Denver last week and checked the sharpener stone with a magnifying glass, it was caked with glue from the last 5 installs and I had no idea that was wrecking the edge after every pass, anyone else ever check their stone for buildup?

Toss the stone and get a new one. They're cheap enough that cleaning them isn't worth the hassle.

Oh my, @ruby_henderson36, but a good stone just needs a proper cleaning, not tossing out.
