Rant: Flying out for hotel carpet jobs always leaves me beat
The airport hassle and weird room layouts just kill my speed. I'd take a local house any day over that travel mess.

Honestly, I see it the other way sometimes. A big hotel job means the same carpet in every room, so you hit a rhythm and fly through it. The floors are usually wide open without a homeowner's lifetime of furniture to move. Plus, you roll right in through a loading dock instead of some narrow house hallway. There's a real efficiency to it once you get past the travel.

Oh come on, it's just carpet. The real debate is whether you'd rather listen to a hotel's elevator music or a homeowner's life story while you work. Both sound pretty bad.

Try telling that to my back after a week of hotel corridors. I get the rhythm thing, but my knees argue otherwise. Those wide open floors sound great until you're on your tenth identical room. At least in a house, the weird layout keeps you awake. I swear, I start seeing the same carpet pattern in my sleep. Give me a cramped hallway any day, it's more entertaining.
