Skeptical about that 8 lb knee kicker for stairs, ate my words after 3 jobs
I always used a standard 4 lb kicker for everything, including stairs, and figured the heavier ones were just a way to get me to spend more money. A guy I work with in Sacramento kept saying the 8 lb version would save my shoulders on stair runs, and I blew him off for months. Then we got a 3 story house with two full staircases, about 40 steps total, and my right shoulder was toast by lunch on day one. He handed me his 8 lb kicker and I did the next flight in half the time with way less effort. The extra weight does the work for you on the angled stuff, so you are not fighting the carpet and the kicker at the same time. I bought one that week and I use it on every stair job now. Anybody else switch weights and notice the difference, or do you just stick with one kicker for everything?
