Those expensive seam rollers are a complete scam in my book
I dropped $85 on a high-end Tacker brand seam roller from Home Depot thinking it would make my seams invisible. Three months later it started squeaking and leaving marks on the carpet backing. I've gone back to using my old $12 metal roller from a flea market in St. Louis and it works way better. Has anyone else had bad luck with pricey seam rollers or am I the only one who got burned?

Respectfully @ryan_shah38, those harbor freight rollers do fine for residential work but fall apart if you're doing commercial carpet day in and day out. Had a cheap plastic one snap clean in half on a big hotel job once, cost me way more in lost time than that Tacker did.

$85 for a Tacker brand roller is insane. I bought one of those cheap plastic ones from Harbor Freight for like $8 and it's been sitting in my truck for two years without making a peep. Those expensive ones just seem to have plastic gears inside that wear out fast. The old metal rollers from flea markets are built way tougher. You definitely got burned but you're not alone, plenty of guys I know have switched back to the cheap stuff too.
