Update: I finally gave in and tried the hot water trick for a stubborn seam

Had a job in a sunroom where a seam just wouldn't stay down, kept lifting after a week. A guy I know told me to put a damp towel over it and run a clothes iron on the steam setting for about 30 seconds. I thought it would damage the fibers, but I was desperate. The heat reactivated the adhesive tape perfectly and it's been flat for three months now. Anyone have a different method for a seam that won't bond?

Desperate times call for a damp towel and an iron, I guess. Your sunroom was one stubborn seam away from becoming a modern art piece.

My aunt in Florida swears by the towel trick for her vinyl plank flooring. She used a thin cotton dish towel and the steam setting on her iron. You have to keep it moving though, or you'll get that shiny melted spot. What kind of floor were you trying to fix, laminate or vinyl?

Man, my first try with that trick looked like I ironed a waffle into the carpet.

So you ended up with a waffle pattern instead of a smooth fix. Did that towel have a texture to it, or was the iron just sitting there too long? I'm trying to figure out if it was the heat or the towel itself that caused that mess.
