Changed my mind about fixed rate vs variable rate internet plans

I was the guy who ALWAYS argued for fixed rate internet bills. Then my Comcast plan jumped from $65 to $89 a month last May with zero warning. Called to cancel and they offered me a variable rate deal that actually saved me $22 a month for the first year. Has anyone else had their internet provider pull a surprise price hike?

Well, I finally learned that being stubborn about fixed rates just means paying more to be wrong... guess my pride cost me about $22 a month.

Yeah I feel that. I did the exact same thing last year with my internet provider. Refused to switch off a grandfathered rate cause I thought I was being smart, then finally looked at what I was actually paying and realized I could get twice the speed for twenty bucks less. Did the math on a napkin and felt like an idiot. So now I just set calendar reminders every six months to check what's out there. Saves me a headache and keeps my pride out of it.

Paying more for loyalty just makes the companies love you, they love people who don't check their bills.
