Finally caved and got a robot vacuum after years of hating them

I used to think robot vacuums were just overpriced toys that bump into furniture and miss half the floor. But my neighbor lent me hers for a week and my living room actually stayed clean for 5 days straight without me lifting a finger. Has anyone else been surprised by one of these things after swearing them off?

I hear you on the "overpriced toys that bump into furniture" part, but that's exactly what mine still does. It gets stuck on rug tassels, scuffs my baseboards, and I have to rescue it from under the couch at least twice a week. After a month of watching it struggle with basic crumbs, I'm honestly wondering if the hype is just good marketing.

Is it really that big of a deal though? These robots are meant to get most of the mess, not be perfect at every single corner and tassel. You can always pick up the rug tassels and maybe move a few things before you run it.
