Finally changed my mind about digital planners after my notebook system imploded

I was one of those people who swore by paper planners, thought digital was just a gimmick. Then about 3 weeks ago, my entire bullet journal got soaked in a coffee spill at the station, ink bled through 4 months of notes and to-do lists. I was stuck trying to remember what shift I covered for Mike and when my gear inspection was due. A buddy handed me his old iPad and said just try Notion for a week. I fought it at first, hated typing instead of doodling. But after 10 days, I realized I could search for terms, set repeating reminders, and never lose pages again. I still miss the feel of a pen sometimes, but reorganizing my whole life from a soggy mess to a searchable file folder system has made me a convert. Has anyone else had a paper system fail hard enough to switch?

Ain't it wild how one disaster can rewrite your whole system?

Double down on that point @the_taylor, cause one bad flood here a few years back completely changed how our whole town handles storm prep. People who never even looked at a weather app now have go bags ready and generators wired up. It's like that one event flipped a switch where everyone suddenly realized the old way of thinking wasn't gonna cut it anymore. You can't unsee that kind of wakeup call once you've lived through it.

My buddy @the_taylor's neighbor lost everything in that wildfire and now he checks fire danger ratings like it's his second job.
