Finally chose a slow cooker over my instant pot after 2 years
I used my Instant Pot for everything for like 2 years straight. But last month I needed something for a potluck at work and grabbed a basic $30 Crock-Pot on sale. The difference was wild, the meat came out way more tender and I didn't have to guess with pressure settings. Now I use the slow cooker like 3 times a week for stews and roasts. Has anyone else switched back to simpler gear and liked it better?

Made the same swap last year after I tried to pressure cook a pot roast and ended up with something that tasted like a tire fire. The slow cooker just sits there and does its thing without making me feel like I'm defusing a bomb every time I open the lid. Now my stews come out tender enough that even my picky kid eats them, which is basically a miracle.

My Breville pressure cooker changed my life ten years ago and I still use it almost daily. I think a lot of people give up on pressure cooking after one bad pot roast, but you gotta nail the timing and liquid ratio. Fourty five minutes with natural release gives me fall apart chuck roast that tastes like I worked on it all day. Slow cookers are fine for set it and forget it, but they can't touch the texture you get from a good pressure cook. I guess it comes down to what you're willing to learn versus what you want to be automatic.
