I blew $340 on a pressure canner because of a YouTube video and I have used it exactly zero times
Two years back I got really into the idea of canning my own chili and soups, watched about 40 hours of videos, and bought the whole setup, jars, lids, the works. Now it sits in my garage under a tarp and I still buy canned soup like everyone else. So here's the debate I keep having with myself: is it worth forcing myself to actually learn it, or should I just sell it all and admit I got sold a dream? Anybody else buy into a hobby that hard and either turned it around or cut their losses?
Tbh the forcing part is what gets you. I tried to make myself love a bread machine for like a year and every loaf felt like homework. The thing that actually worked was picking one recipe I already eat all the time, for me it was taco soup, and only canning that. Didn't touch the rest of the setup for months. Once one jar came out good I did a second batch, then a third. Now I do maybe six batches a year and the canner earns its spot. If you can't get yourself to do even one batch of chili in the next month, that's your answer, sell it and don't feel bad.
