I finally spent $800 on a high-end office chair and my back still hurts

I always thought spending big money on an ergonomic chair would fix my work-from-home back pain, so I bought a top-tier model after reading tons of reviews. Six months in, my lower back is just as sore as when I used a $50 dining chair, and I'm wondering if I wasted that cash. Has anyone else found a chair actually helped, or is it more about how you sit and move during the day?

The chair matters less than standing up every 30 minutes to reset your posture.

Hard disagree. A bad chair will wreck your back no matter how often you stand up. You can't reset your spine if it's already damaged from hours of crap lumbar support.

Yeah, you're not wrong at all. I had a cheap mesh chair once and my lower back was in knots after just two weeks. What finally worked for me was getting a chair with adjustable lumbar support, plus I set a timer on my phone to get up every 20 minutes. @jamie940 has a good point about standing up, but you gotta have a decent base to start with, otherwise you're just fighting the chair the whole time.
