My dad told me credit cards were evil and I believed him for 15 years

He said they'd ruin my life, then I got an Amex Gold for the points last year and paid it off every month, now my credit score jumped 80 points and I'm actually making money on groceries. Has anyone else had to unlearn bad financial advice from their parents?

You say you realized you were wrong after trying it, but I gotta push back a little on that. Trying something new and admitting you were wrong takes guts, sure. But that doesn't mean the thing you tried is automatically right for everyone else too. I've seen plenty of folks crash and burn after jumping into something just because one article or one person told them to.
