PSA: I used to think the 'no phones' rule at the Austin library was just annoying, but getting lost in a book there for 3 hours last Tuesday changed my whole view.
I was stuck on a project and went there to escape my noisy apartment, and the forced quiet actually let me focus and finish a chapter I'd been putting off for months, so has anyone else had a place that unexpectedly helped them get something done?

Funny how that works, @betty_kelly9, my brain needs total quiet or it just wanders off.

Total quiet is the only way my brain works. Background noise just turns into the main event and I can't get anything done. It's like my focus gets pulled to whatever sound is happening. Some people can filter it out but my brain refuses to cooperate.

What if you just have terrible focus at home? I get more done with the TV on in the background.

Honestly my brain is the same way, if there's any background noise I just start focusing on that instead of what I'm actually supposed to be doing. Tbh the TV on just becomes the main event for me too, not really a background thing at all.
