Question about shifting my view on electric cars
I used to be totally against electric cars, thought they were overpriced and useless for long trips. Then my buddy let me borrow his Chevy Bolt for a weekend trip from Phoenix to Tucson. I drove it 180 miles on a single charge and the ride was so smooth, plus I spent like $6 on charging instead of $40 on gas. Has anyone else had a similar experience where a test drive completely changed their mind on something?

Drove my friend's Tesla and instantly saw the light on EVs, now I'm mad for saving gas money.

Got caught with my foot in my mouth on this one. I was the guy who swore EVs were just glorified golf carts until my wife made me test drive a Nissan Leaf. Ended up driving it around the block, then to the grocery store, then accidentally 40 miles out of town because I was having too much fun. The regenerative braking felt like driving a bumper car in reverse, but in a good way. Still had to admit I was wrong over tacos that night, which hurt more than the test drive.

I mean, you admitted you were wrong over tacos, it's not like you had to eat the Leaf. Kind of feels like you're making this into a bigger deal than it is.

Drove a friend's Tesla a few years back and had the same kind of wake up call. Always figured electric cars were slow little things that could barely get to the store but that thing PULLED when I hit the pedal. The instant torque is wild compared to waiting for a gas engine to wind up. Changed my whole view on EVs honestly. Now I'm actually looking at getting a used Bolt just for commuting because it makes no sense to burn gas sitting in traffic.
