Rant: I called meal prepping a waste of Sunday until my grocery bill hit $640 in one month
For years I rolled my eyes at the guys at the gym in Bakersfield who spent every Sunday afternoon with 12 plastic containers lined up on the counter. I said it was a phase, a way to feel busy, and honestly a little sad. Then in June my wife added up what we spent on lunches and takeout for 30 days and it came to $640 for two people, which is more than our car payment. I was eating a $9 burrito bowl five days a week and calling myself smart. So I caved and tried it for one Sunday, just chicken and rice and some roasted peppers, nothing fancy. By the following Friday I had spent $0 on lunch, and the weird part was I did not miss the takeout at all. The containers cost me $14 at the store and they have already paid for themselves about ten times over. My question for the group is this, does anyone actually prep anything besides chicken and rice? I am already bored of it and it has only been three weeks.
