Swapped from cramming for exams to studying a little each night and my brain actually kept the info this time

After bombing my midterm in chem 101 last semester because I stayed up till 3am memorizing formulas that vanished by morning, I tried the whole 20 minutes a night thing for 6 weeks and pulled a B+ on the final, so why did nobody tell me this in high school?

Wait you actually got a B+ from just studying 20 mins a night?

My buddy tried the all nighter thing for his civil engineering exam too and got a 58. It just doesn't stick that way. The real trick is spacing it out so your brain has time to actually file the stuff away. 20 minutes a night works way better than 4 hours of panic the night before. I do the same thing with learning new tools on the job sites. Give yourself a solid week or two of those short sessions and you'll surprise yourself.

Oh man, I used to be totally on the "cram all night" train too, but this honestly makes a lot of sense. I'm gonna give the short sessions a try next time I need to study something.
