Was a die-hard film snob until I caught myself defending a Marvel movie

I used to be that guy who only watched foreign films and black and white classics. Thought blockbusters were trash. Then last year a buddy dragged me to see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and I actually cried at the end. Felt like a hypocrite for weeks. Now I watch whatever I feel like and stopped judging people for their taste. Anybody else have a moment where they realized they were just being pretentious for no good reason?

Man, talk about a glow down! I used to be the same way - wouldnt touch a superhero movie with a ten foot pole. Then I watched the first Avengers film hungover on a sick day and literally sobbed when Hulk punched that big flying worm thing. Now Ive seen every single one twice and Im not sorry. Pretending to hate fun is exhausting, man.

Glow down is the perfect way to put it! Its like we all hit this point where we just stop caring about looking cool and admit that giant explosions and colorful suits are actually pretty great. The Hulk punch moment is legendary, that whole theater just cheered when it happened in my showing. Its wild how much pressure there is to have the right taste in movies when really most of us just want to be entertained for two hours. Once you let go of that gatekeeping nonsense its like a weight lifts off your shoulders.

@luna_wright nailed it, pretending to hate fun is just a pattern I see everywhere like people who claim they don't like music.
