Mom said to buy day-old bread for meatballs, and I doubted her for 4 years
She grabbed a $1.99 stale loaf at the bakery in Gary and told me fresh bread makes gummy meatballs, and after spending $14 on a fresh loaf last Saturday mine turned to paste in the pan, so now I want to know what other cheap swaps like this I have been ignoring.

Wait, fresh bread costs $14?? I have been grabbing the day old stuff for years and never once thought about why it works better. Your mom just saved you a ton of money and you didn't even know it.
