Shoutout to my coworker Dana who flat out told me my beans tasted like wet cardboard
Turns out I was skipping salt until the very end, so now I hit them with a big pinch at the start and again around 40 minutes in. Anyone else get a blunt cooking critique that actually fixed a cheap staple for you?
Skipping salt isn't some huge cooking secret, it's just the first thing you learn about making food taste like food. Dana didn't crack the code, she just told you what your tongue already knew.
