Dropped $180 on a used deli slicer from a restaurant auction and it arrived with a bent blade
Bought it sight unseen from an auction in Fresno last month. The listing said gently used, but the blade wobbles so bad it chews meat instead of slicing it. A new blade runs $95, so I am $275 in for a machine I could have bought new for $300. Lesson learned: always ask for a video of it running before you bid. Anyone ever had luck replacing just the blade on these, or should I cut my losses?
Wiped out on the exact same auction site move last year, except mine was a meat grinder that showed up sounding like a lawn mower full of rocks. Replacing just the blade is doable if the shaft and hub are still true, but a wobbly blade usually means the spindle or the mounting surface got knocked out of whack too, so a $95 blade might not even fix the wobble. Pop the blade off and set it on a flat counter or run a straight edge across it to check for a bend first. If the blade itself is flat and the play is in the shaft, you are looking at a whole new assembly, not just a blade. At that point you are $275 deep into a $300 machine with no warranty, so I would flip it on marketplace as a parts unit and take the L, or keep it for rough grinding if the motor still spins good.
