my friend had something similar happen. she said the hostess literally walked away mid-conversation and left her standing there for like 10 minutes.

Oh come on, you're really gonna act like one bad Saturday ruins five years? Places get slammed, people get tired, mistakes happen. Bet you've had plenty of slow days nobody complained about.
