Finally tried the spin brush on a heavy creosote job vs. the old manual rods
Last week I had this house where the previous sweep must have never cleaned it, black flakes were falling out of the flu like snow. I always used my standard hand rods and wire brush for everything, figured spinning was just for show. But after 45 minutes of scraping and barely making a dent, I pulled out the spin brush attachment I bought off a guy at a trade show back in March in Austin. Man, that thing chewed through that buildup in about 10 minutes flat, no comparison. The dust was way worse though, felt like I was in a coal mine for the rest of the day. I'm still not sold on using it for every job, but for that heavy stuff it's a no brainer. Anyone else found a situation where the spin brush just outperforms the old school way?.

Did the spin brush throw dust around way more than the rods do, or was it about the same? Because I hate when the fine crap gets everywhere and you're still finding it in your truck three days later. That's the main thing that would make me hesitate to grab it for a regular job.

Holy hell, 45 minutes of scraping just to switch to something that does it in 10? That's insane. I'd be throwing my manual rods in the trash after that.
