Had to choose between a fiberglass rod kit and a polypro one for a tough job

I was up on a 3-story in Chicago last Tuesday and had to decide which rod setup to bring up. Grabbed my polypro rods because they're lighter, but they started bowing bad on the second sweep. Should have gone with the fiberglass ones - they're heavier but way more stable. Anyone else find polypro rods only work good for straight flues?

Does it ever seem like the lighter option is always the one that lets you down when you actually need it? It's like that in a lot of stuff, the light stuff is fine for easy days but falls apart under real pressure.

Lighter stuff tends to cut corners somewhere, and you only find out where when things get hard. I've noticed that pattern in tools, clothes, even some friendships the easygoing ones are fine for good times but disappear when you really need them. Maybe it's just the way things are built you trade reliability for convenience, and that tradeoff shows up eventually.
