Hot take: last Tuesday I made $1,850 in one day and I still can't decide if that was skill or luck
So last Tuesday I had three jobs lined up in Tacoma and I figured it would be a normal 7 hour day. First house was a 1920s craftsman with a fireplace that hadn't been touched in who knows how long, and I pulled out maybe 40 pounds of creosote. Second job was a double flue on a rental property, easy money, in and out in 45 minutes. Third one is where it gets weird. Lady calls me at 2pm sounding stressed, says her carbon monoxide alarm went off twice that week and the last sweep she hired back in April said everything was fine. I get there and her flue was 70 percent blocked with a nest and soot. Could have killed her family. I spent two hours on it plus a full inspection and she tipped me $100 on top of the $450 service. So here's my debate with you all. Part of me thinks I got lucky that the calls stacked up right and the third one was that bad. Other part says I only caught it because I always run the camera even when the job looks simple. If you skip that step on a busy day, you miss the big stuff. Where do you all land on this, is a day like that earned or just the calendar being nice to you?
