Just read that a blocked chimney can cut your heating efficiency by 30%
I saw that stat in a home energy report from the city of Boise. It made me think about how we explain the value of a cleaning beyond just safety. Has anyone else found a good way to bring this up with customers?

Honestly, that 30% number feels like a scare tactic to me. My own bills never changed much before or after a cleaning. The real value is just peace of mind about a fire, not some made up energy savings. People should focus on the actual safety part, not these shaky stats.

Totally get where you're coming from! My power bill didn't really budge either after the last time I had mine done. It's frustrating when companies push those numbers so hard. The safety part is the only thing that ever made real sense to me too. Feels like they're trying to sell you on the wrong thing sometimes.

Spot on about the safety being the real sell. Those energy saving claims probably depend on how bad your vents were to start with, like if they were totally blocked. My neighbor had a legit scary buildup and her bill did drop, but mine was just normal dirty and it changed nothing. Companies should just lead with the fire risk, it's a stronger point anyway.
