Just realized a customer's thank you matters more than the check

Last month at Mrs. Henderson's house in Akron, she handed me $350 for a clean but then made me stay for tea and told me about her husband's work as a sweep in the 50s. Has anyone else had a job that stuck with you because of the person, not the pay?

2 years ago a guy at the grocery store told me his whole life story while i bagged his stuff and i still remember his name was Carl. @lilyp37 is right, it's like those small chats just stick with you way longer than any paycheck.
