Looking at my old soot-covered leather gloves from my first year in '98

Back then, I'd just shake the brush out over the driveway, but now I use a HEPA vac on every job because of what we know about creosote dust. Anyone else keep an old piece of gear around just to remember how it was?

Totally get keeping something around for the memories, lol. It's cool to see how far things have come.

Honestly, I don't see the point in keeping old gear like that. It's just clutter that reminds you of worse ways of doing the job. We learned better methods for a reason, and holding onto the old tools feels like being stuck in the past. I threw all my old stuff out years ago and don't miss it a bit.

Yeah, hanging onto a piece like that makes total sense. Kinda get where karen361 is coming from, but it's not about the tool, it's about the memory, you know?
