My old mentor in Fresno says we should stop brushing creosote and start telling folks to burn hotter, am I wrong for pushing back?
He ran his own sweep business for 31 years and swears brushing glazed creosote is a waste of time if the homeowner just learns to run the stove right. But I keep thinking about the 4 or 5 calls a winter where someone never got that talk and now the flue is half clogged. So which is it, do we fix the fire habits first or keep the brush on the truck as the main tool? Curious what you all actually lead with on a service call.

Did 12 years in Portland and saw the same thing, habits matter but the brush still saves lives.
