Rod set at 3/4 inch or coil at 5/16, what do you run on 8x8 clay liners?

Got a run of older homes near Albany with 8x8 clay tile and I keep going back and forth. I ran a 3/4 inch poly rod with a flat wire brush on the first three and it scrubbed fine but snagged bad on one cracked joint. Switched to a 5/16 coil on a drill for the rest and it spun through the soot fast but I feel like I'm missing the corners. What's your go to on square liners, and do you ever use both on the same flue?
