Yeah, "scared me straight" is exactly it. I always brushed off warnings about wet leaves or dew being slippery. Then one morning my boot just skidded off a damp shingle like it was ice. Man, that moment of pure panic before I caught myself properly shook me. I don't ignore that stuff anymore.

My buddy Mark was cleaning his gutters last fall and his ladder was set on a patch of wet grass. The feet just kicked out from under him without any warning at all.
