The day I realized I was pushing my brush rod instead of pulling it

I watched a video from a guy in Denver who had a totally different technique and after 15 years of pushing from the top down, I tried pulling on my next job and the soot came out three times faster with half the mess, has anyone else been doing it backward this whole time?

Wait, you mean you were pushing the brush instead of pulling it this whole time? I had almost the same thing happen to me, I'd been pushing my brush for like 10 years and never thought twice about it. Then I saw a demo at a trade show where a guy was just pulling the brush in smooth strokes from the top down, and I was like oh my god. I tried it on a job the next day and it cut my time in half plus the soot didn't fly everywhere like it used to. So yeah, you're definitely not alone, I felt like an idiot too lol.

Drove past Denver last week and @emmaclark pulling changed everything too.

Hmm, I actually get better results pushing the brush for the control.
