Update: Hit 500 chimney caps installed this season

Just tallied my jobs from spring to now and realized I've put on 500 caps since March. That's way more than my usual 300-350 for the same period. I think it's because of all the new builds in the suburbs around here, plus more people getting inspections after those big storms. It's not just about the number, it means I'm seeing way more blockages from animals early on. Anyone else noticing a big jump in cap jobs this year?

500 caps since March? That's a whole other level of busy.

That tracks with the insane amount of new construction in my area too.

Morgan.rose you're actually right about the replacements, a lot of those 500 are older houses finally getting upgraded properly. The new builds get most of the attention but the animal blockages aren't slowing down either, it's everywhere. From what I've seen the newer construction tends to have better built in venting so maybe that explains why the replacements are catching up now.

Honestly, is that 500 just for new builds or does it include replacements too? Jessica130 is right about the new construction boom, but I'm seeing way more older homes finally getting caps after years without. Tbh the animal blockages you mentioned are getting worse every year, it's not just a new build issue anymore.
