Finally stopped fighting the torque specs on my 289 rebuild
Spent 3 weekends torquing head bolts by feel on my 65 Mustang and kept getting uneven readings. Bought a $60 click-type wrench from Harbor Freight last month, checked every bolt in sequence at 65 ft-lbs, and the coolant leak I chased for weeks just vanished. Anyone else learn the hard way that guessing on fasteners ruins your whole weekend?

Man, that brings back memories of torquing lug nuts on my old F100 with a breaker bar and praying nothing snapped... ended up warping a rotor and learned that lesson the hard way too.

Yeah I did the same thing on my Chevy, stripped two studs before I finally bought a torque wrench.
