Question about rear main seal jobs, I did mine twice and it still drips
Pulled the 350 out of my 72 Chevelle three weekends back to do the rear main seal because it was leaving quarter sized spots on the driveway. I did the rope seal the old way, got it all buttoned up, and it leaked worse than before. Took it apart again, switched to a two piece rubber seal, still seeping after 200 miles. I am out about $60 in seals plus two full weekends and a case of oil, and the car is still marking its spot. Anyone got a trick for getting these to actually seal, or do I just live with a drip pan and stop pretending I can fix it?
