The mechanic who made me question my chrome obsession

Had a chat with an old timer at a swap meet in Dayton last weekend, he said my '67 Mustang would run better if I spent less time polishing and more time on the brake lines lol. He pointed out a tiny rust spot I'd missed for 3 years, now I can't unsee it. Anyone else ever had a stranger spot something you've stared at for ages?
