Heard a guy at the cars and coffee say 'barn finds are overrated' and it got me thinking
There was this older fella talking to a group near me, and he said most 'barn finds' are just rotten shells people pay too much for. Said he'd rather store a car in a dry garage for 15 years than chase some dusty legend. I get his point. I spent 3 months air sealing my concrete floor and running a dehumidifier in my storage unit just to keep rust off my '72 Cutlass. Has anyone else noticed people romanticizing the whole 'found it in a field' thing too much?

Three grand for a moldy '55 Bel Air with no floors and mouse nests in the dash. People see the name and forget it's just a parts car with a cool story. I'd rather drive a car than dig one out of a barn.

Wait, three grand for a Bel Air with no floors and mouse nests? That's not a barn find, that's a biohazard with four flat tires. I paid eight hundred for a running '69 F100 with surface rust and a cracked windshield last year. Guess I got lucky. But yeah, people get so caught up in the story they forget they're buying a pile of scrap metal and dreams.
