Hit 50 cars stored in my barn and realized I'm hoarding junk, not classics

After I counted 50 vehicles crammed into my barn last weekend I figured out that keeping every rusty project I found on Facebook Marketplace for 7 years just means I spend more time moving cars than actually working on them, has anyone else hit a number that made them rethink their whole setup?

Man I hit 42 in my backyard and had the same exact wake up call, it's like you're just paying rent on a bunch of metal you can't drive. The worst part is I found three cars I bought for parts that ended up being more broken than what I was trying to fix in the first place. I'm pretty sure half my collection is just there to hold up the other half at this point. I finally started selling stuff off last month and honestly my blood pressure dropped just from not having to move a dozen cars to get to the one that actually runs. It's a special kind of stupid when your hobby turns into a game of impromptu automotive tetris every time you need a socket wrench.

The best thing I did was set a hard rule of "one in, one out" after I hit 30 cars in my yard, @jenny47. I made myself sell or scrap three cars before I could even look at another project. I remember I had a 72 Chevelle that I bought for parts sitting for two years before I realized it was actually worth more than the car I was trying to fix. Now I just keep a list on my phone of what I actually need and if I can't find it in ten minutes I don't buy another parts car.

You're off by a bit on the math there, 50 cars in a single barn means they're stacked like sardines. I hit 32 in a 40x60 pole barn and I couldn't walk between half of them, had to climb over hoods just to reach the tool box. The worst part is when you finally sell one, you realize the one that was behind it has a flat tire and a seized engine you forgot about. I found a 78 Trans Am under six inches of dust that I swear I never actually bought, someone must have dropped it off while I was at work. Your tetris game is way more patient than mine, I'd have given up and just parked them all in the yard after the third time I had to move a Bronco to get a floor jack.
