I thought storing my 66 Mustang on a concrete floor was a death sentence, and after 4 years in my Garland garage it was fine
Everyone on the old forums swore concrete pulls moisture up into the frame and I almost paid $600 for a plastic barrier mat before rolling the car in back in 2020. I checked the floor pans and frame rails last month and found nothing but dust, which makes me wonder if the whole thing only matters in humid places like Houston. Has anyone here actually seen rust start on a car that sat on bare concrete in a dry climate, or is this one of those rules we all just repeat?
Skip the mat and spend the money on a dehumidifier if you're worried. Concrete does wick some moisture but it only rusts metal when the air is already wet and warm. In a dry climate the floor stays dry enough that it doesn't matter. People repeat the concrete thing because it sounded smart on forums in 2003 and nobody tested it. Your four years of dust is better proof than any thread.
