Just realized carport vs garage was a bigger deal than I thought for my '65 Mustang

I had to pick between keeping my Mustang under a metal carport or building a small plywood-enclosed garage in Nashville. I went with the carport cause it was $800 compared to $2,500 for lumber alone, but after three months the humidity here got the paint foggy and I regret it. Anyone else deal with moisture ruining things under just a roof?

Oh man, humidity is a sneaky enemy. I had a 1972 Chevelle under a tarp in my driveway for about six months back in the 90s and the rust started showing through the paint before I could get it covered. That foggy look is a pain to fix too.

Try hitting it with a clay bar first, @seth_shah, it pulls out that foggy layer better than wax.

I had a similar thing happen with a white 1987 F-150 I kept under a leaky carport for a few winters. @diana512 is onto something with the clay bar, but I ended up having to compound the hood twice to get that milky fog off before I could even wax it. The humidity just seeps in through any little scratch and turns the clear coat into a mess...
