Mice chewed through the wiring harness on my 67 Impala after 2 months in my brother's garage
I parked my 67 Impala at my brother's place in Tacoma back in April because I lost my garage spot when my landlord rented it out to a guy with a boat. Figured two months was nothing, cars sit longer than that at shows. Pulled the cover off in June and the whole inside smelled like mouse pee, and there was a nest the size of my fist in the back seat springs. The little guys had chewed through the main wiring harness behind the dash and also got into the padding under the rear window. Cost me $680 at the shop plus three weekends of my own time tracing wires with a test light. What got me was I had dryer sheets in there and a box of moth balls on the floor, and they just built a house right on top of the moth balls. Now I pull every car out every three weeks and walk the whole thing, trunk and under the dash, no exceptions. Point is a car can look fine under a cover and still be getting destroyed underneath. What do you guys do for mice in long term storage, and does anybody actually have luck with those ultrasonic plug in things or is that just money down the drain?
