I know this sounds obvious to some of you but I never really got it until I saw it with my own eyes. My grandpa parked his 65 Mustang on a dirt floor garage in Modesto back in 2011 and just left it there. When I finally went to check on it in March, the frame rails and floor pans had rusted through in spots I could stick two fingers into. I poured a 12x20 concrete pad, rolled it over, and checked it again six months later, and the rust spots looked the same, not worse. Has anyone else dealt with a dirt floor situation like this? Wondering if I should still treat the metal or if the concrete is enough to stop it.
Ah yes, the ancient art of moving rusty metal from wet dirt to dry concrete, groundbreaking stuff. Just don't let it sit long enough to rust through the rock you're parked on next.
