Rant: A guy at the auto parts store in Reno said he stopped using foggers because of his grandma's 1970 Camaro
I was picking up a battery tender and overheard him talking about how he used to fog his grandma's 1970 Camaro every fall in Reno before they moved it to a barn. He said one year he overdid it and the thing smoked so bad on startup in spring that she thought he blew the motor. I always used Sta-Bil and a full tank, but now I'm wondering if I've been overthinking the fogging thing this whole time. What's everyone actually doing for long term storage these days?
Wait, so did the fogging actually cause any real damage or was it just a smoke show that scared her? I've heard guys say the oil burns off after a few minutes and it's no big deal, but other guys swear it fouls plugs and can wash down the cylinder walls. The part I never understood is why you'd fog a carb car that's getting parked in a barn anyway, seems like you'd just pull the battery and call it good. Curious what the reasoning was for that Camaro specifically.
