Shoutout to the guy who told me to put my '67 Camaro on jack stands for winter storage

I used to just park my car in the garage every winter and leave it sitting on all four tires. Come spring time I'd always have flat spots that took like 20 miles of driving to smooth out. A guy at a car show in Des Moines last fall told me to get it up on jack stands to take the weight off the tires. I was skeptical because it seemed like a pain to do every year. But I finally tried it this past winter and pulled it out last week. No vibration at all on the highway, tires looked perfect. Why did nobody tell me this sooner? Has anyone else found a simple storage trick that made a big difference?

Right on, old bias-ply tires were the worst for that.

Actually you might want to check the owner's manual on that one lol. Most modern tires don't really get flat spots like the old bias-ply ones did, especially if you keep them properly inflated. Jack stands are great for the car's suspension though, takes the stress off the bushings and ball joints over time. I've been leaving my '72 Chevelle on the ground for years with no tire issues at all, just make sure to overinflate them a bit before storing. But hey if it works for you and makes you feel better about it then no harm done. Better to be safe than sorry with a classic car like that.
