Vent: I was dead set against climate-controlled storage for my '57 Chevy until the humidity fight

I used to think climate-controlled storage was a ripoff, just paying extra for fancy air. Then last August in Nashville, I left my Bel Air in a non-cooled unit for three months and came back to mold on the seats and a musty smell I still can't kick. That $150 monthly premium for a sealed, dehumidified space suddenly looked cheap compared to the $600 I just spent on cleaning and upholstery repair. On the other hand, my buddy Joe swears by his dry, unheated barn with open doors for airflow and says his cars are fine. So which side is right here? Has anyone else had a cheap storage setup actually ruin something, or am I just unlucky?

Used to be on the side that climate control was just a gimmick, but after seeing what a little humidity did to my buddy's upholstery I changed my tune completely. That nasty musty smell is the worst because it lingers no matter how many times you detail it. Better to pay a bit extra each month than drop a bunch of cash on repairs you didn't see coming.

Started running a dehumidifier in the garage and it made all the difference.
