Appreciation post: That $200 heat pump water heater I installed last spring

My old electric tank was eating $80 a month. Swapped it out for a Rheem hybrid model in April. Already seeing $40 less on my power bill every month. Anyone else made the switch and noticed a big drop?

Glad to hear it's working out so well for you. I switched to a heat pump model last year and my electric bill dropped by about $45 a month, which REALLY adds up over time. Nice to see someone else getting that kind of savings too.

$45 a month? That's almost unbelievable...

My Rheem hybrid paid for itself in about 5 months too. I actually checked my old bills against the new ones and the difference was almost EXACTLY $45 a month like @karenh56 mentioned. But hey, if she thinks that's unbelievable, wait until she hears my neighbor paid $60 a month for his old water heater alone because he had it set to max heat all year. Some people just don't get how much power those old tanks suck down.
