Bought a $1,800 heat pump last spring and my July electric bill was $41
I live in a 900 sq ft house outside Tucson and my old AC unit was dying. Got quotes for a new one, cheapest was $6,500 installed. Instead I put in a mini split heat pump for $1,800 and did the install with my neighbor who does HVAC on the side. I was nervous because everyone told me it would not keep up when it hits 110. It hit 112 in July and the house stayed at 76. My electric bill for that month was $41 when it used to be $180. I know one summer is not a full test but so far this feels like the best money I have put into this house. Has anyone else gone the mini split route and how did yours hold up after a few summers?
