Decided between solar panels and a wind turbine for my property in Nebraska
I had a choice last year between dropping $12k on a 5kW solar setup or $8k on a small wind turbine for my farm. I went with solar because it's quieter and has fewer moving parts, but it's been cloudy lately and my output tanked. Would you pick consistent wind power over solar if you had the space?

Nothing worse than watching those numbers drop" hit home, that's what made me reconsider solar.

The cloudy days getting to you is exactly what I was worried about when I made my own choice. I've got solar too and there's nothing worse than watching those numbers drop when a storm rolls in. I get the appeal of wind in a place like Nebraska where it's always blowing, but man, those turbines can be loud and they need maintenance like crazy. I've heard stories from folks who had the blades wear out faster than they expected, so it's not all roses either. You might be swapping one headache for another if you switch, though I totally understand why you're thinking about it. Solidarity from a fellow solar sufferer who's been staring at a cloudy sky all week.
