Hit a simple personal record last week that caught me off guard
I started tracking my own household waste about 6 months ago. Just a rough count of how many bags I throw out each week. Last week I hit exactly one small bag for the whole week, down from my usual three or four. The thing is I didn't even try that hard, I just started buying loose veggies and saying no to plastic wrappers. So which side are you on, does individual stuff like this add up to real change or is it just a drop in the bucket compared to big industry pollution?

Then it becomes less about saving the world and more about not being part of the problem.

Man I used to be one of those people who rolled their eyes at stuff like this, thinking it was just a drop in the ocean compared to what factories and corporations are doing. But watching my own trash shrink like that really flipped a switch for me. Last month I had to throw out a whole chicken carcass and realized that was the only thing in my bag for that week besides some fruit peels and a yogurt cup. It wasn't about saving the planet all at once, it was that I started feeling less wasteful in my day to day life, and that just felt good. You can't fix the whole system by yourself but changing your own habits makes it way harder to ignore the bigger picture.

And that one bag feeling is definitely real, I dropped to about the same once I stopped buying anything wrapped in plastic. What really made it stick for me was buying a kitchen scale and just buying exactly what I needed from bulk bins, no more half bags of onions rotting. Does that little bit of effort feel less like a chore and more like you're just being clever with your money and space?
