I finally tried solar panel cleaning and it went completely wrong

So last weekend I figured I'd clean the solar panels on my roof myself to save a few bucks. I got up there with a hose and a squeegee at like 9am on Saturday. Everything was going fine until I slipped on some moss and the hose nozzle flew out of my hand and landed right on the panel. It cracked one of the panels in half, loud snap sound and everything. I just stood there in shock for a solid 30 seconds thinking about the $400 replacement cost. My neighbor saw the whole thing from his yard and just yelled "nice one!" I ended up calling a pro anyway who charged me $150 to clean the rest and fix my mess. Has anyone else had a DIY solar project go this bad?

My dad tried the same thing and ended up blasting a garden spider nest right into his own face. He screamed so loud the whole cul de sac heard it and then he slipped off the ladder and landed in our rose bushes. Your neighbor yelling "nice one" is the cherry on top of a $400 dollar mistake. At least we both learned our lesson about letting the pros handle roof stuff.

Wait, did your dad land in the rose bushes head first or did he manage to roll at the last second? I'm trying to picture the whole sequence of events and I'm cackling lol. My neighbor filming me with his phone makes a lot more sense now, I bet he's got that video saved somewhere on his cloud storage to show at parties. The moss on my roof was basically a slip 'n slide for disaster, I'm just glad I didn't end up taking a trip to the ER like your dad probably did with those rose bush spines.

Honestly I used to think DIY was the way to go for everything but your story and the rose bush guy have me fully convinced to just pay a pro for roof work from now on lmao.
