I never linked my daily run to climate action until now
I started running to clear my head, but I learned that cutting out short car trips for errands reduces pollution. A friend showed me how active travel choices add up over time.

Yeah, cutting out those short car trips really does add up. I started walking to the corner store for the same reason.

You mentioning the corner store walk really got me. I've driven to a mailbox that was literally three houses down before, which is pretty bad when I think about it. My new rule is if I can see the place from my window, I have to walk or run there, no excuses. It makes my lazy trips way more obvious but at least the guilt is good for my pace.

We're so used to jumping in the car for everything, even tiny errands, it's like autopilot lol. Like @avery_jackson said, walking those short trips adds up, and it makes you see how much we depend on cars. Setting rules like yours is a solid way to break that habit for good.

Honestly, it feels like we're making a huge deal out of nothing sometimes. I get the point, but driving three houses down isn't going to melt the polar ice caps. Life is busy and sometimes you just want to get things done fast without overthinking every little trip. It's good to be aware, but the guilt over a quick drive seems over the top. We all pick our battles and this one just doesn't feel that serious to me.
